Aconcagua Expedition – Attempted 2025 / Planned 2026
In February 2025, I attempted to summit Aconcagua — the highest peak in South America and one of the Seven Summits. At 6,961 m, it’s a non-technical climb but the altitude is brutal. I turned back just 200 m from the summit due to severe altitude sickness, a tough but necessary call.
That moment became a major lesson in knowing when to stop. I had the strength to push on, but the risks outweighed the reward. Turning back wasn’t failure,it was part of the process.
I’m returning to Aconcagua in February 2026 for a second attempt. The plan is to follow the Normal Route, climbing from Plaza de Mulas up through Camp Canada, Nido de Cóndores, and Berlin High Camp before launching the final summit push. With better acclimatisation, stronger conditioning, and the experience of Everest and Denali behind me, I’m going back more prepared and focused than ever.
This climb will be the final summit in my Seven Summits quest. After that, only the North Pole remains to complete the Explorer’s Grand Slam.
